You can't directly, but the root entity is passed as an argument to
filter_begin().  If you copy it to a variable visible to filter(), you can
reference it from filter().

MIMEDefang guarantees that:

filter_begin / filter / filter / ... / filter / filter_end

all happen in sequence in the same process.

Or, you could just open and read the file ./HEADERS
